Breaking News: Miami FC Get Guardiola

Forget Dream Team… Miami FC Snatch Pep Guardiola From Barcelona

In an announcement that shocked the entire soccer world, Barcelona coach quit his position at Barcelona in order to take over the reigns at MiamiFC. This comes as a surprise to various fans of the club as he was getting ready to sign a new contract with the Catalans.

"I think I reached my peak here and it is time to move to greener pastures. They were really close to getting a franchise in Miami so that must mean something.

"If it's good enough for Romario, it's good enough for me," said the coach in reference to his former Dream Team mate.

Guardiola is ready to tackle a league as competitive as the NASL with a roster of stars that Miami FC is getting from all over the world. He was also impressed with the commitment the club has towards winning as well as the immense following that they have in South Florida.

This became apparent after they were able to have more people attend in five home games last year than the Florida Marlins did in their entire home schedule.

"The ambience at (Sun Life) Stadium will be incredible. To have 75,000 screaming fans will remind the fans of the old Dolphin days," says a source that would like to remain unidentified. Also to have a coach like Guardiola aboard it vital to the growth of a franchise and a community as well.

"Miami FC is a challenge for me as a coach said Guardiola. The team looks like they are on the edge of doing big things, there might be one or two signings that will make this team not only a threat in the league but also in Abu Dhabi."

He has also made it clear as to who his first signing will most likely be- Samuel Eto'o.

Details of the contract have not been disclosed but he is currently getting his B Class license to driver school buses and vans.

Another one bites the dust, Jack Traynor to AC St Louis

AC St Louis signs Jack Traynor. For details go HERE
Traynor was drafted in the second round of the 2009 MLS SuperDraft by the New York Red Bulls, but was not offered a contract by the team.
After an unsuccessful trial with Aalesunds FK in Norway, Traynor signed with Miami FC of the USL First Division. He made his professional debut on April 26, 2009, coming on as a substitute in Miami's game against Rochester Rhinos.

I haven't really kept count but I believe this is the third player Miami FC has lost to other NASL teams. The first was Zourab "Zee" Tsiskaridze who has signed with the Vancouver Whitecaps. Then it was Aaron King who will now play for rivals Tampa Bay Rowdies!

We continue to hear the progress of other teams in the league, many setting up pre-season games versus MLS teams... Fans are happy with the announcement of Zach Kirby's return, but so far we only know we have 2 players on the roster and no coach announcement as we don't know if Zinho will be returning. We hope Miami FC can start signing players soon before they are all taken from under their noses and we are left with a High School squad.

Invitational Tryouts
In case you didn't know Miami FC is Holding Invitational Tryouts right now at Ted Hendricks Stadium, beginning Feb. 12 and ending Feb. 14.

Open tryouts will take place on Feb. 20 and 21 at Weston Regional Park. For more information visit www.miamifc.com, or register at the following link.

Miami FC Signs Players, USSF Div 2 Logo revealed and Edmonton to NASL

With the release of the USSF Division 2 schedule the "Blues" have announced the signing of 2 players.

Fan favorite Zach "Beowulf" Kirby returns to lead in the defense. Zach was solid in the back effectively neutralizing attacks. "Beowulf" as the fans called him, was elected Miami Ultras Fan Club Player of the year. His signing answers what most Miami fans anxiously awaited, the signing of players as the inaugural match is less than 2 months away.

Kirby grew up in Marietta, Georgia and played college soccer at Boston University from 2003 to 2006. He was the 2006 America East Defender of the Year. Kirby was drafted in the 2nd round of the 2007 MLS Supplemental Draft by Los Angeles Galaxy, and was offered a contract, but was released in order to make roster room for Golden Balls himself David Beckham. Kirby has played for the Wilmington Hammerheads of the USL Second Division, the Atlanta Silverbacks of the USL First Division in 2008 and Miami FC.

Miami FC has also announced local Miami product Bryan Perez who comes from the University of Missouri Kansas City. Bryan is a forward who finished his career as the UMKC school record holder in goals (29), points (70), shots (160) and games played (78) Perez started all 78 games. Bryan was Captain of his Killian High School side as a senior. With youth on his side we hope Bryan will make an impact up top where Miami FC is in need of some magic.

Be sure to check out the Miami FC site as we are told many more announcements will be made in the days to come.

In other news the USSF Div 2 logo is out. Check it out below.

NASL News via other sites has an interesting piece on the addition of an Edmonton team to the NASL. It further makes the case that NASL is here to stay as they are looking at 2011 and beyond.
Sources within NASL tell us this is just the beginning. I've read all over that the NASL website is still a little weak if compared to the USL site. But I'm told its a work in progress. Official announcement should be out today.

One time Miami Fusion player goalkeeper Dusty Hudock was named player # 16 in the top 2 players of the decade in USL. Read more HERE

The End of MLS Miami? Marcelo Claure meets with Miami FC and FC Tampa Bay

Reliable sources tell us Marcelo Claure (Brightstar) one time MLS Barcelona Miami bid head and Aaron Davidson, President of Miami FC met Thursday at 9 AM at Traffic Sports USA headquarters in Miami.

It is known Claure has already met with FC Tampa Bay Rowdies.
Claure
, frustrated after his Major League Soccer adventure and fed up with Don Garber, has been itching for involvement of some sort in Florida Soccer for sometime now and has seen the excellent signings and progress Tampa has made so far this year. Tampa seems like a better investment for now, pending whatever Miami FC could muster up in the next months before the start of the USSF Div2 Season. (A NASL and USL combined league)

Signs indicate Claure has agreed to collaborate with both Tampa and Miami teams though details of the deal if any are not set in stone.

It's a positive sign for Soccer in Florida since we know Marcelo Claure has the resources and know how to make a great contribution to Soccer in this state. But questions still remain... Is any hopes of MLS now dead in the state of Florida? Claure was thought Miami's best hope for MLS but sources tell us he, like many other investors cringe at the thought of MLS's current Soccer monopoly (Single entity system).

More details as this story develops.

About this nonprofit:
You can help the victims of countless crises, like the recent earthquake in Haiti, around the world each year by supporting the American Red Cross, which will provide immediate relief and long-term support through supplies, technical assistance and other support to help those in need around the world.

U.S. Men's National Team defender Jonathan Bornstein’s last gasp goal against Costa Rica in World Cup qualifying aided Honduras in their quest to reach the 2010 FIFA World Cup, and now he’s hoping the shoes he wore that night will give a bigger assist to relief efforts benefiting Haiti.

Bornstein has autographed and donated the shoes he wore during the historic match for an online charity auction on eBay, with 100 percent of the money raised to be donated to the American Red Cross to aid in their relief efforts in Haiti.

The auction begins today (Friday, Jan. 22) and will run through Wednesday, Jan. 27.

“The devastation and suffering in Haiti is a tragedy for everyone,” said Bornstein. “One of our teammates, Jozy Altidore, is the son of Haitian immigrants and still has many family members there. It’s heartbreaking to see what is happening, and we hope to be able to help in any way we can.”

Authorities estimate that the devastating earthquake that struck near the capital of Haiti has affected three million people. Hundreds of thousands are feared dead; many more people are injured or without basic supplies or shelter. The Red Cross is part of an enormous relief operation in Haiti following the massive earthquake there on January 12. It will be a long-term recovery effort and the Red Cross will be there throughout.

Fans interested in donating directly to the relief efforts can text the word HAITI to 90999 to contribute 10 dollars to the Red Cross or visit RedCross.org to make a donation.
