Our friends over at Simply Futbol brought to our attention the fact that the Footvolley World Cup is being held this weekend at Hollywood Beach. It's a 3 day event and if you are not familiar with it many notable professional soccer players have been know to participate. One we may remember is former Miami FC player Romario. For more information go HERE

As some of you may have read this week; MLS will make an announcement that many believe will mean the inclusion of Montreal as the 19th team in that league. In a recent interview, MLS Commissioner Don Garber mentioned South Florida as the possible location for the final expansion team. Miami Soccer Fan has an interesting piece called Why not Miami? If you haven't read it be sure to check it out as it has numerous quotes from soccer players and celebrities.

Uncle Ed's Mother's day preview: Mom meets Ecuador national team

Yesterday I picked my mom up from MIA and boy did she have a great story to tell me. She had flown on the same plane as the Ecuadorian National team which was headed to New York where they will play at a sold out new Meadowlands Stadium on Friday versus Mexico.

My mom is so cool she had a few of the players sign autographs for me and she took pictures with them too.

Here she is with defender and captain of the team Ivan "Bam Bam" Hurtado. A World Cup veteran, Hurtado has played in Mexico, Qatar, Colombia, Spain and currently plays for Ecuadorian champions Deportivo Quito. Hurtado has played for Ecuador more then any player in that country's history (163 times so far).

Ulises de la Cruz is another world cup veteran and is poised to complete his 100th appearance for the Ecuadorian national side. De La Cruz has played for Cruzeiro of Brazil, Hibernian in Scotland, Aston Villa, Reading and Birmingham City in England and currently plays with South American champion LDU Quito. Ulises is also known in Ecuador for his charity work and has been named a UNICEF ambassador.
Jaime Ivan Kaviedes is perhaps the most traveled player in Ecuadorian history. Having played for almost every major league in the world and scoring in a world cup. In 1998 Ivan was the highest scorer in the world with 43 goals in one season for Emelec in the Ecuadorian league. In 1999 he moved on to Italy with Perugia, then Spain with Celta de Vigo, Mexico with Puebla then back to Spain with Real Valladolid. Portugal with Porto, Crystal Palace in England, Argentinos Juniors of Argentina and more. Currently with Macara in Ecuador he is rumored to be headed to MLS in July.My mom rocks!

Miami FC vs FC Tampa fan videos and much more...

Before we jump into the game videos you need to head over to Miami Soccer Fan and read the Ultras game day review along with an after game interview with Miami FC's captain Jarryd "The Hammer" Goldberg. Check it out HERE

Kenn.com/the_blog has put up a Pro Soccer Attendance Figures chart. It's still a little early in the Soccer season to put this up and see how teams are really doing at the gates, but it's pretty cool anyway! Now I know I'm going to get criticism for this one but the old Miami Fusion's attendance was higher then at-least 4 other teams in MLS today! It just tells me that MLS made a mistake pulling the plug on this market. Now on the other hand... You want to see how the Blues are doing in attendance? See it HERE

The 2014 World Cup might just be played in the good old U.S. of A after all! Seems Brazil is behind in preparation and the world governing body FIFA is not too happy about it. Some of you might remember that back in 1986 the World Cup was to be held in Colombia. But, they couldn't do it for one reason or another so it was held in Mexico instead.

Following are game day videos of the Miami FC Blues versus Tampa Bay Rowdies that took place at Lockhart Stadium this past Saturday.

Miami Ultra Matt Berkshire filmed this video of the Ultras singing "We Love you"

Blues undefeated but winless... Game day pictures

Miami FC remains undefeated, but remain winless in three games so far this season. It didn't help that star midfielder Christian Gomez was ejected early in the second half leaving the team with only 10 players. Tampa took advantage of the situation and leveled the score. For more on the game go HERE

The crowd that gathered for the game enjoyed the pre-game tailgate freebies and supported their teams. Tampa fans came down in large numbers. It added to a great ambiance that for the most part were friendly.
