Thank you for your personal opinion. India was doing well when Vajpayee was PM. He is not some management honcho. It is a vision of the person that is more important. Manmohan is a learned man and has provided country with real good service but real power rests with Sonia and her son Rahul.
Hence. Its a question of ideology in the long run and given my background, BJP govt suits me better than Congress. So I prefer Advani over Sonia.
I am not sure what vision Mr.Advani has for India. May be at this age he might have better vision than other people in the same league.

Teddy ... I like your calculation and read all your posting on Calculation thread. This is a fun thread to relax. So don't take it seriously.
If I was bad person then I will try to derail the good thread.
Folks and friends some really nice knowledge sharing is happening here its a good discussion. The OP here is a completely fake person and is enjoying at our expense, he has nothing to do with legal immigration just getting pleasure here by instigating us.

Sonia has this immense lust for money and power.Though I'm least interested in her antics during Indira Gandhi regime and Rajiv Gandhi regime I'll add few lines.
Apparently precious antiques were moved from chennai to Italy.Near Orbassano where her mother lives there are two antique shops called Ethnica in Revlota and Ganpathi. These are blue collar areas. Her birth certificate says she was born in Turin but she told parliament that she was born in Orbassano.
Media says that she is from middle class family. But apparently there were few journalists who went to her town in Italy and apparently she comes from very poor family in Italy.
Middle class or poor family a person working as an aupair girl went to same restaurant as to the one to which elite folks like grandson and son of a coutnry's PM would go is interesting.Kind of unimaginable even in these days of reduced economic disparities as rich folks have their own hanging out spots.
There was something about Opus Dei,KGB thing mentioned in connection with Sonia in some articles.
Disclaimer
I found this on Internet but don't know what is the truth. For all I know she could be very nice person that could have happened to India in specific and earth in general.
That said in 1984 Rajiv apparently was reluctant to get into PM post.Pranab Mukherjee who is rightly called as living encyclopedia by many was very ambitious to become PM.P V Narasimha Rao who was kind of Indira's right hand man was not expressive about his ambitions.Sonia convinced Rajiv to accept PM job and Pranab was sidelined as every one knew about his ambition which led to his leaving Congress though he rejoined later.Rajiv who was neither interested in politics nor was astute mismanaged things much to the embarrassment of this aides. In some cases his own aides let out secrets about his scams.
In 1992 Sonia opted for PVN thinking he would take orders from her. After he got into the job he refused to take orders from 10,Janpath.That's the famous rift between Sonia and PV.
After PV's 5 year term she had Sitram Kesari be the Congress president which didn't work out .She stepped into the party.Apparently once upon a time Congress party like BJP or any other political party had a constitution where the president and state CM were to be elected by party members. After Sonia got into party president role she had the constitution changed, so for ages to come Congress party's reins will be in the hands of Nehru-Gandhi family members. They and not party members will elect all the chief candidates of the party who will have to take orders from them.
All the nonsense that media writes and her biography says about she going into privacy shell for eight years after 1992 is just fairytalish makeup to her story.

Are you sure you understood it fully?
I wrote " if you think ", meaning a lot of harping on is happening based on the assumption that removal of country limits will impact ROW badly. It's not the fact. Though it has been explained a number of times that its not the case, some members obstinately stick to their guns and regurgitate it again!
Taking some sentence written by me out-of-context does not prove anything.
Easy now!!! Simmer down.....
Its just that every time the VB comes out, we get a lot of posts from folks from India/China who want to remove country limits. And they talk about only removing the country limits, as if removing country limits is going to solve the problem.
You scare away ROW when you do that.
Can I ask you a question? How much of IV goals you have supported till date? How many IV activities you have participated? How much you have contributed? I'm interested in knowing. If you haven't , whether you have incentive or not, it doesn't make even a teeny difference to the movement.
In December 2006, I started my state chapter, and went around and held meetings and told folks about IV. Then in the summer of 2007, I, along with other folks, some from India and some from Europe, went around and met with the staff of three congressmen/women, and two senators. And then we urged another person to go and meet his congresswoman. We covered half the state delegation in the House, and both senators.

1. Employment-Based Visa Number Movement and Predictions
Many MurthyDotCom and MurthyBulletin readers closely track the U.S. Department of State (DOS) Visa Bulletin each month. The most recent Visa Bulletin chart is always available on MurthyDotCom. Given the importance of the cutoff dates in the Visa Bulletin, attorneys at the Murthy Law Firm are often asked for predictions as to the movement of the cutoff dates. There is no better source for this information than Charles Oppenheim, Chief of Immigrant Visa Control and Reporting Division at DOS. Mr. Oppenheim was a guest speaker at a May 20, 2009 American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) meeting, which was attended by most of our attorneys. Mr. Oppenheims explanations and visa number / Visa Bulletin expectations for the remainder of FY2009 and for FY2010 are explained below. Readers who are unfamiliar with the Visa Bulletin and the role visa numbers play in the permanent residence (commonly referred to as the green card) process should review some of the articles on this important topic that can be found on our website; among them, Priority Dates - How Do They Work?
Historical Background
Mr. Oppenheim discussed the historical background that led to the current unavailability of visa numbers, known as retrogression, for certain employment-based (EB) immigrant visa categories. Retrogression is not something new or unfamiliar in immigration law. Most EB numbers were current from July 2001 through January 2005 due to legislative that provided a temporary solution. This legislation authorized unused visa numbers from previous years to be put back into the system. Those additional numbers, along with the annual allotments, were sufficient to meet the demand until January 2005. Since January 2005, the supply of EB visa numbers has fallen short of the demand.
Current Trends in Visa Usage
Mr. Oppenheim stated that immigrant visa applications at U.S. consulates abroad are down seven percent from FY2008. India will use all the visa numbers that are available to its nationals this fiscal year. This is due, in part, to huge increases in the usage of EB4 and EB5 categories. Applicants from India have used twice the number of visas estimated for FY2009. Mr. Oppenheim stated that, because of the excess demand, further retrogression may occur over the summer months.
Predictions for Movement and Usage of EB Visa Numbers
Employment-Based, First Preference (EB1)
Mr. Oppenheim expects that all EB1 visa numbers will be used before the end of FY2009. This may result in the establishment of a cutoff date for the EB1 categories for India and China, beginning in August or September 2009. Usage in the EB1 worldwide category (listed as "all chargeability areas except those listed") is also higher than expected. This may lead to imposition of a cutoff date toward the end of FY2009.
Mr. Oppenheim explained that a trickling effect of unused visa numbers between EB categories has helped keep EB1 and EB2 categories current in prior years. However, due to the processing of a high number of applications, this trickling effect has already occurred, but is not expected to occur again in FY2009. Mr. Oppenheim attributed this to the hard work of the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), as well as that of the DOS, as they have succeeded in processing enough cases to likely use all available visa numbers from all categories for FY2009. He stated that the DOS and the USCIS are supposed to process enough cases to use the annual allotment of visa numbers and not leave any available visas unused and wasted in any fiscal year.
Employment-Based, Second Preference (EB2)
The EB2 category worldwide is also expected to be over-subscribed and will exhaust all allocated visa numbers before the end of FY2009. To date, Mr. Oppenheim estimates that 3,200 EB2 India visa numbers have been used in FY2009. The high usage in the EB1 category has prevented the usual trickle of visas to the EB2 category. Thus, China will experience the same EB2 retrogression as India in July 2009. The EB2 China cutoff date is expected to be set at January 1, 2000.
Employment-Based, Third Preference (EB3)
All EB3 categories are currently unavailable; all available visa numbers have been allocated. No change is expected to occur until the beginning of FY2010.
Employment-Based, Fourth Preference / Certain Religious Workers
There has been an unexpectedly heavy usage of visas in the EB4 categories for certain religious worker in FY2009. A cutoff date thus may be set in August or September 2009. Mr. Oppenheim stated that, if the Certain Religious Workers category becomes unavailable, applicants in the ministers category are not affected.
Visa Numbers for Indian Nationals
Mr. Oppenheim has set the cutoff date for EB2 India at January 1, 2000. According to current estimates, out of the approximately 200,000 I-485 applications currently pending with USCIS, 120,000 of them are chargeable to India, with the cases divided evenly between EB2 and EB3. This means that EB2 and EB3 India applicants count for 60 percent of the I-485 cases currently pending with the USCIS.
FY2010 Predictions by Charles Oppenheim of DOS
Mr. Oppenheim stated that he expects the EB3 worldwide category to have a cutoff date of March 1, 2003, beginning with the October 2009 Visa Bulletin. When asked about the potential cutoff dates for EB3 India, China, and Mexico, Mr. Oppenheim said that it would depend on the demand for these categories over the rest of FY2009.
Mr. Oppenheim estimated that there are currently 25,000 EB2 and EB3 cases from Indian nationals that have been reviewed and are only waiting for visa numbers for final processing. He stated that, due to the dramatic increase in employment-based filings, visa cutoff dates for FY2010 will be much more limited to ensure that there will be a steady supply of visa numbers available throughout the year. This will lead to earlier cutoff dates and may help prevent visa categories from becoming unavailable.
Conclusion
We at the Murthy Law Firm appreciate Mr. Oppenheim's commitment to addressing matters related to visa numbers and the Visa Bulletin. The continued shortage of employment-based visa numbers is a source of great frustration for many and Mr. Oppenheim's predictions do not assuage that feeling. It is better to have an understanding of the reality of the situation, however, than to operate in ignorance or with unrealistic expectations. Once again, the shortage of immigrant visa numbers underscores the need for legislation in this area to increase the numbers, change the counting of the numbers (from one per person to one per family), or to revamp the system entirely.

Wow - yes, I obviously wasn't getting the point! Thanks UN for clarifying it.
My earlier comments were more questioning why we debating what I thought was a hypothetical problem, ie "if there were unused visas, there wouldn't be retrogression", and I was missing the bigger picture.
I certainly wasn't "one of those EB3 WOW guys" just arguing that we should get all the extras, if you know any history about my posting on this board, you'll know that I am concerned with everyone's fight, not just mine.

No. We are not big enough to come under the radar.
But Indians that are citizens of US are a size-able chunk. If they demand action, then the politicians might be obligated to server their citizens.

I dont understand the whole point of discussion here ... What does the IV Senior Members think about this , The idea of a lawsuit to capture the loss immigrant visas, is not against USCIS, its against the system. Infact the USCIS should be on our side, as per the USCIS Ombudsman, Mr .
Atleast we should try , discussing and cribbing on the forum wont help.
Have you checked the latest news about USCIS Ombudsman's Mr. ? Here I am not talking on the behalf of senior members, if some leaders come forward, make efforts to sue USCIS, I don't doubt about the moral support from entire IV community including senior members.
Once it is law suit, USCIS is the system since it is what created this wastage of visa numbers.

My friend, writing in bold font doesn't make your argument bolder. An argument is bold by the underlying merit of the argument. Where did I mention anything about race?
Even if I had said that there is fraud and corruption in India, it would not be considered as a racist comment. Every year Transparency International generates a list of most corrupt nations. Ever wonder why India is on that list. Ever wonder why out of all places only in India US visa officers are instructed to do technical interview for IT visa applicants? You are living in complete denial and trying to play the race card whenever you get an opportunity.
Fraud and corruption is prevalent everywhere incuding India and a prepondernece of the bodyshops are nothing but a factory of producing overnight "IT Talents". Accept this is as one of the problem of this retrogression.
You are accusing people from India for using wrong credentials for picking up H1b/L1 jobs. This is ridiculous and pretty racist.

Here is a report from immigration-law.com
02/05/2006: DOL Resummitted and Obtained OMB Clearance of Proposed Labor Substitution Elimination Regulation on 02/02/2006
* This DOL and DHS proposed rule was cleared by the OMB last fall, but for unknown reasons, it has been pushed off. However, on February 2, 2006, Thursday, ETA/DOL resummitted the proposed rule and on the same day, the OMB cleared again this regulation. It is unknown at this time exactly when the DOL will publish this critical regulation but considering the fact that it reinstated the rule-making process as late as three days back, something must be cooking this time. Please stay tuned.
Great news, especially given that most of the body shoppers were using it for fraud. Also this would make it easier for USCIS to predict the actual usage of Visa numbers and thus move the PDs accurately.

First of all, IV is all about us. Any kind of change / help that brings positive changes to EB community shall always be welcome.
So far number of efforts have been made, and many times we were defeated by our anti-immigrant friends for so many reasons. But take a look at the following
http://blogs.wsj.com/economics/2008/08/13/greenspan-excerpts-housing-stabilization-key-to-crisis-end/
It's not about ignoring any specific group of EB immigrants.
Thanks
Satya
Most of us are waiting in line for years by sacrificing their career growth and earnings with the so called consulting companies. what for? To get a green card by buying a home here? Is it sensible? common. Bring some common solution to everybody, not for few. If you want to leave some IV members behind, then you may continue with this idea. your proposal DOES NOT MAKE ANY SENSE to me.

This part amazes me most.
He is an actor on a personal visit and now govt of India has to intervene.
And look at the protesters.
There are thousands of more important issues in India and they don't bother them while detention of SRK makes them protest. Hight of stupidity.

Very sad to hear about this.
I don't know what else to say. I am sorry to hear that this happened.
I'm sorry, I haven't monitored the web-site since my last posting.
Today reality hit me very hard. I am in my late thirties and I haven't had much adversity in my life regarding financial, career, family, etc.
However; today reality really hit me hard.
One gentlemen, his name was Raja Pitchai. He had asked me to help him file his I-140 and ask for cross chargeability to his wife's place of birth (singapore). USCIS accepted his package and his 140 got approved in a couple of months. (his priority date; india became available one month later anyways (he was from india eb2).
He was the one of the nicest guys I have talked to. Very courteous fellow.
They couldn't approve his case because he was stuck in name check. Well, his wife called me today and told me that he passed away last week (brain tumor). He had two U.S. citizen children but him and his wife have no relatives here.
She doesn't seem to be interested to stay here (she wouldn't be able to keep the greencard process going anyways because the death of the petitioner is automatic denial). She is leaving USA and was going through all the things she needs to wind up. I don't know if she would have stayed here if she got the greencard and I didn't want to task. Reality really him home today.
I need a couple of days to get over this.

-TrueFactsis an IV insider. Otherwise how he know the real name of the person.
quote:( "-TrueFacts) Jayapaul Reddy Vadicherla" This is to warn you on any personal disturbing mesgs"
So people suspect it is CHANDV23. He have second highest rating after PAPPU.
So people suspect he got all ratings from his multiple ID'S.
Sudddenly -TrueFacts become green after so many reds.
DON'T MAKE US FOOLS.
IV MUST BAN BOTH OF THEM, BECAUSE -TrueFacts accepts his ID is duplicate only to create to post this thread.
Mr. CHANDV23.....You should have been aware that when you are logged in with your alias(aka _TrueFacts) it turns "Green dot" beside your ID. Your other ID "CHANDUV23" turns blue if you do not use it...
Still making me laugh the hell lot trying to prove your point by hiding behind your real Identity. Why not accept that you are indeed "CHANDUV23" Hahaha...
I guess this is what is called "Wolf in Sheep clothes"

Why are you guys talking about human trafficking? In this case SRK was not detained for that. He was detained only for his name match.
This is an atrocity of one particular officer. TOI article posted by OP says "There were other immigration officers who even vouched for me but this particular officer did not listen to anyone". You have to notice the gap here. SRK was detained for identity check because of his last name. When other officers vouch why he was still detained.
Thing we should be worried about is, if SRK - who has MPs and other big shots behind him to prove him - needs 2 hours to prove his identity, think about commoners like us. We may get lost without help.
What did the officer do wrong if the name matched.
Do you know there is a CNN reporter who is a white guy and his name matched with some name on the security check list and the guy was harassed multiple times on different airports within USA.
If a known person in USA can get such treatment, SRK IS NOTHING.
SRK Fans think the is someone special!

1. If the outsourcing companies would pay on an avg at 80K per head for the "well qualified" people, I am even ok with their dumping their dumping the L1s here. Why is it that you guys are ok with the L1s being dumped at 40K-60K salaries ? Shouldn't they get paid high too ? This is what I am arguing for. If the outsourcing cos don't want to pay this rate, then keep them in the country of origin. No need to depress wages here. Is this a wrong thing to ask ?
......
Where did you get that 80k number? You think 80k is good salary for that job, someone else may say 65k, I may say 90k. The salary, among other things, is determined by market forces. If you can't find enough people with xyz then company will be forced to offer more.
As long as there are people who are ready to work on salary 52k (example), employer will not pay 70k. As long as employer is following all the legal requirements, no one can dictate salary for the job.
I am a US citizen of Indian origin with background in Computer Science, Finance, and Business Laws. I have been in this country for 11+ years and I have seen so many changes in tech world. Nobody talks of sign-on bonus on H1B anymore. I am dot net architect and I am seeing lot of competition for jobs and this is causing downtrend pressure on salary. But, instead of, blaming someone else for the competition, I am taking it head on. We need to keep working on our skillset and employer will pay the salary. Like they say, for the right candidate salary is not a constraint.
Let us not forget our struggling days of H1. The least, we can do, is to encourage our fellow immigrants who are waiting for their green cards.
