I have been following this thread for last couple of days and I feel I need to make few points. I remember when this amway/qucikstar thing started several of my close friends got entangled and tried to involve me. However, every time I bailed myself out by clearly mentioning to them "Right now, making lot of money is not in my top priorities. I want to focus on my carrier." Fortunately, I was able to fend off the proposals and clearly make my point.
In this thread, several of you are mentioning to ridicule, diminish, embarrass, and even socially out casting an amway/quickstar member. I feel its going a little bit too far. If you dont like to be in the amway/quickstar business stay clear of it, nobody will be able to force you in it. Setting up anti-amway websites, sharing names of the "bugging" amway members, distributing their phone numbers, and destroying their social reputation is harming the person personally, not the amway/quickstar business. We all know by now the amway/quickstar is a scam, majority of its signed members end up losing valuable time and money. How do you feel if some of your mentioned action emotionally push a distressed person off the cliff. Think about it a bit !!!

Please explain why these (see above) will be more difficult if you have read it. What precautions / strategy our members can take etc.
This memo, if followed, could stop anyone working for consulting companies (body shops) from getting H1 extensions or new H1s on the basis of lack of employer-employee relationship. People working for companies like IBM, Accenture, etc are still ok but people who work through consulting companies at client sites where the consulting company (employer/petitioner) only runs the employees payroll and has no control over an employee's day-to-day job responsibilities, are now deemed to be lacking an employer-employee relationship and hence may no longer get H1s (new or extensions).

I am just wondering.....
when will the day come when a lot of us will rush to Delhi.....braving the cold/heat....stand for hours........dancing to tunes of pop singers......while awaiting our beloved PM to show up and take oath of office........just like hundreds of thousands did when obama took office.........

You can easily find the steps at the official website www.cic.gc.ca . I followed the instructions on this web site step-by-steps and got GC approval for whole family in 12 months. I did not complete the final steps (pay the final fee and land to Canada for at least once), because I thought the chance to get US GC is still with us. Now I got US GC 3 weeks ago (at the crazy peak of approval June 15 June 30 , you knew it).
I made many researches about the chance to live in Canada for an ex-US H1B (asking the friends there, compare the living cost, job search in canada, visit canadian forum etc ...) and found the decision to quit US and get GC in Canada is very various and depends on individual cases/family. You have to make your own research and find Canada GC is suitable for your situation , your family or not.
for short, you can do-it-yourself the the application canadian GC, you certainly DO NOT NEED an immigration service . Paying such services could only cause your case more delays (everything get though attorneys first .....) ....

The July installment of the Visa Bulletin shows complete unavailability for the vast majority of employment-based cases. Moreover, DOS projections show that demand for higher-preference green card categories could reach record levels, which would lead to backlogs in these categories where green card numbers were traditionally available in the past.
The Visa Bulletin establishes "cut-off" dates based on the demand for green cards versus the amount actually available under immigration law to each specific employment-based (and family-based) category per country for each fiscal year. As it assesses green card demand in relation to availability, the DOS may move these cut-off dates forward or back, or not at all. When the DOS believes that all immigrant visa numbers in a particular category will be exhausted (or allocated) by the end of a particular fiscal year (i.e., September 30th), it will indicate an "unavailability" of numbers (marked as "U") in the Visa Bulletin. The law prevents any single country from overuse of immigrant visa numbers during a particular fiscal year. DOS has projected that, as a result of significant filings in the EB-4 and EB-5 categories, there will be fewer numbers to supplement the EB-1 and EB-2 categories. In previous years, thousands of unused EB-4 and EB-5 numbers "spilled over" into other preference categories. However, greater-than-anticipated EB-4 and EB-5 usage, as well as greater demand in the EB-1 category itself, will create an even greater dearth of available "spill over" immigrant visa numbers in the EB-2 category.
In addition, the DOS has indicated that the EB-1 category for individuals born in India or China may backlog or retrogress later this summer, and may do so again in the coming fiscal year. Predictably, prognostications for the EB-2 category for India and China are also quite grim - in the next month or two, the EB-2 category could become unavailable. In particular, USCIS has indicated that it has about 25,000 EB-2 India cases and "significant numbers" of cases for Chinese nationals that have been reviewed and are simply awaiting visa number availability. This category has a typical fiscal-year limit of 2,800, plus any remaining numbers from the EB-1, EB-4 and EB-5 categories.
With respect to the EB-3 category, the DOS has stated that the worldwide, China and Mexico quotas for the EB-3 category will become available again with the start of the new fiscal year in October 2009, with a projected cut-off date of March 1, 2003 for each. Ok, the guy that sets the dates says that he sees no possibility of dates moving forward for EB India and ppl are still thinking there is hope? I am an optimist and try to see the brighter side - and that side here is that we know there is no hope for those past 2005 in the next two years. That to me is sufficient to make decisions and move on. Be it changing to a different job or going back to the home country - most probably the former for me.

Further, if any one is considering to get back home, keep in mind that if you don't contribute to SSA for 10 yrs, your and your employers' contributions are simply lost (with some exceptions for countries with which US has an agreement). To collect SSA at 65 for India/China citizens you need not to be a GC holder. You can collect living in your country. If you are close to 10 yrs, just reach that mark before you make any decisions.

Thanks for the brilliant idea, but I have a question about the draft. Is it really necessary to mention that 20% downpayment clause in there? I am a non-IT (manufacturing) EB3 applicant making half the salary you mentioned in the draft, and I bought a house with a 3% downpayment on a FHA loan. However, I have an excellent credit and I don't foresee myself in a foreclosure situation in the near future. I dont know if there are many GC applicant with my profile, but aren't we helping the housing market by buying a house?
Anyway, I will support every initiative that has the remotest possibility to remove one person in line ahead of me.
